About The Artwork

Undercover' is a textured 12" x 12" acrylic abstract painted on a 1.5" deep gallery wrapped canvas.

I often work intuitively and begin with random mark-making. In this painting I began with stains of fluid colour, adding glazes and scraping into the surface building up impasto textures. I then painted over the surface with a layer of creamy white acrylic. While this layer was still wet I scraped into the wet paint using the sgraffito technique. The layers below were now exposed and a variety of expressive shapes emerged. A final flick of the brush layed down some splashes of black paint to bring it all together.

I want the viewer to feel the energy and spontaneity I felt while painting this - and to enjoy the many small details as well as the whole.

This painting, signed on the back, is ready to hang with wire attached and will be securely packaged and shipped to ensure safe delivery.  It also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
