'Long Way Home' This is a highly textured 20" x 20" acrylic abstract painted on a 1.5" deep gallery wrapped canvas.

I often work intuitively and begin with random strokes and gestural mark-making. This also began with lots of graffiti scribbles filling the canvas. It took several painting sessions - I visited it many times - each time adding more paint - leaving a few strokes undisturbed but also scraping into thick impasto layers creating a multitude of textures. Some saturated ink stains and more impasto strokes are my final additions standing out over an active but muted base. I'm left with an exciting, exuberant painting with a strong visual history.

I want the viewer to feel the energy and spontaneity I felt while painting this - and to enjoy the many small details as well as the whole.

This painting, signed on the back, is ready to hang with wire attached.
